Classic Challenge, a new series of one-hundredth rallies for classic cars

10.2.2021

Organisers of one-hundredth rallies for classic cars are busy. Even when the everyday life around us has been strictly limited for many months already, the organisers of the newly created Classic Challenge 2021 series are optimistic and prepare their competitions for the originally announced dates.

2nd Spring Classic | April 17, 2021

The classic cars season should start in South Bohemia by the second year of the Spring Classic. The host town of the spring event will be Jindřichův Hradec and the crews will face an attractive route about 230 km long during Saturday, April 17. Participants will cross the historic border between Bohemia and Moravia several times when entering the area called Czech Canada and Pelhřimov region after the start at Vajgar pond.

The key points in the roadbook will be a lunch break at the recently renovated brewery in Kamenice nad Lipou, or the Český Rudolec Castle nicknamed Little Hluboká where the participants will stop for an afternoon coffee break. A presentable background for the competition will be provided by Hotel Concertino, located right at the centre of the activities on Náměstí Míru in Jindřichův Hradec.

„If it were impossible to organize the Spring Classic in mid-April due to covid measures, we are ready to postpone the competition to a later date. Like last year, we consider the first Saturday in June,“ says Pavel Kacerovský, Clerk of the Course of the first event in the Classic Challenge, adding: „We can assure the registered crews that the paid entry fee will be returned in full in the case of an unsuitable alternative date, or will be transferred to one of the following events. The same rule will apply to all events included in our series this year.“

1st Moravian Wallachia Classic | June 25-26, 2021

A new one-hundredth rally, the first of its kind in Moravia, will take place just before the summer holidays in the less known localities of the Zlín and Moravian-Silesian regions. The venue of the premiere Moravian Wallachia Classic on June 25-26 will be the Wellness Hotel Horal located in the picturesque nature near the Czech-Slovak border, in Velké Karlovice.

After the ceremonial start at the centre of Vsetín, the historic gems will face winding and hilly sections in Wallachia, participants will also visit the foothills of Beskydy, Javorníky and the Wallachian-Lachian border area. The two-day event with a driving distance of almost 500 km will be dominated by the well-know mountains and hills like Lysá hora, Radhošť, Smrk, Soláň or Kohútka.

„Participating crews will also see the Bystřička dam, pass through Štramberk or Tatra premises in Kopřivnice. The highlight of the program will be the finish located at the Little Wooden Town inside the open air museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm,“ says Roman Fluxa, the main organizer from the organizing agency INUA, inviting crews to take part in the Moravian Wallachia Classic.

12th South Bohemia Classic | September 10-11, 2021

The climax of the Classic Challenge 2021 will be the 12th year of South Bohemia Classic held during the second weekend of September. „It is too early for more detailed information, but we can already reveal that in case of a favourable situation, the Saturday lunch will be an international matter for the first time,“ hints Pavel Kacerovský at the bold plans of the organizing teams from ÚAMK South Bohemia Rally Club and ČK motorsport.

The concept of the competition will remain similar to previous years, when the start from Náměstí Přemysla Otakara II. is followed by an evening leg including a passage through the historic centre of Český Krumlov. As always, the traditional highlight of the Saturday leg will be Grand Prix Kaplice and the rally will end with a gala evening on the shore of the Lipno reservoir in Hotel Resort Relax.

Those interested in participating should not hesitate about submitting the entry for a long time. Seven months before the start of South Bohemia Classic, half of the entries are already occupied.
